It’s time to make your plan to ensure that your voice is heard!

CHECK YOUR REGISTRATION STATUS

The deadline to submit a new registration or to update your current registration is Monday, October 5 at 4:00 PM.  You can visit the online registration portal to check your status, submit a new registration or update your registration: www.govoteky.com

 

  • Never voted before? Visit the portal and submit your registration! It takes 3 minutes!
  • Not sure if your registration is up-to-date? Recently moved? No problem, you can check your registration status online and update your registration!
  • Will you or someone you know turn 18 on or before November 3? They are eligible to register and vote!
  • Have you or someone you know recently had their voting rights restored? Voter registration is not automatic – go online and get registered today!  
  • Always Vote? Great! But still check that registration just to be safe!

OPTION 1: VOTE BY ABSENTEE BALLOT

Requesting Your Absentee Ballot
If you would like to vote by absentee ballot (which will be mailed to you), go to www.govoteky.com and select the “Absentee Ballot Request” button. The deadline to request an absentee ballot is Friday, October 9, 2020.  If you want to vote by absentee, don’t wait to request your ballot. The sooner your request, the sooner it will arrive and you can return it.

Returning Your Absentee Ballot
There are two ways to return your absentee ballot: by mail or in a dropbox.

By Mail Option: If you are returning your ballot by mail, it MUST BE POSTMARKED by November 3.

In Dropbox Option: You can drop your ballot off at one of the five secure dropbox locations around Lexington. These dropboxes will be available from October 1 through November 3.  (Ballots must be placed in the dropbox by 6:00 PM on Election Day, November 3.)

PLEASE NOTE:  If you request an absentee ballot, you will be unable to vote in-person UNLESS your ballot is not delivered to you before October 28. If you have not received your ballot by October 28, please call the County Clerk’s Office (859.253.3344) to cancel your request and to receive information on voting in person.

OPTION 2: VOTE EARLY IN-PERSON

If you would like to vote early (in-person), you can do so from Tuesday, October 13 through Monday, November 2.  The early voting locations for Fayette County Residents will be open 8:30 AM – 4:00 PM, Monday-Friday, and 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM on Saturday.  You can cast your vote at any of the following locations:

  • Dunbar Center (545 N. Upper St.)

OPTION 3: VOTE ON ELECTION DAY IN-PERSON

If you plan to cast your vote on Election Day (Tuesday, November 3), Fayette County Residents will be able to do so at any of the following locations from 6:00 AM – 6:00 PM:

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What if I miss the deadline to vote by absentee ballot? Can I still vote in this election?
Yes, you do not have to vote by absentee ballot. If you miss the deadline, no worries – you can still vote Early In-Person or on Election Day.  Please see these two options, described above. What races will be on my ballot?
There are a variety of races on the ballot Election. Here in Fayette County, every voter will be able to cast a vote for President, US Senate, Congress (6th District) and KY State House. Depending on where you live in the county, you may also find KY State Senate, County Magistrate (District 1), and non-partisan LFUCG Council Races on your ballot. Where is your Headquarters?
The FCDP HQ is located at 431 S. Broadway. You can reach us at 859.265.4448.  The HQ is currently open the following hours: Mondays (3-7PM), Tuesdays (12-3pm), Thursdays (12-3pm) and Saturdays (11am-4pm). Please note: for the safety and wellbeing of our office volunteers, we ask everyone to please wear a mask and practice social distancing when visiting HQ.
